Trea Turner optioned to AAA, others optioned

The Washington Nationals optioned super prospect SS Trea Turner to Syracuse AAA.  The move was not completely unexpected as 2B Daniel Murphy and SS Danny Espinosa make up the middle of the infield.  Turner is too good of a prove prospect to play every third or fourth game.

Turner had a decent spring, batting .257 with a .341 on base percentage.  He also added seven stolen bases.  Though the numbers were decent, Turner likely needed a fantastic spring to beat out the entrenched starters.  The better option was for Turner to go to AAA and collect plate appearances.

The Nationals also optioned reliever Rafael Martin to Syracuse.  Additionally, the Nats sent Scott Sizemore, OF Tony Campana, C Jhonatan Solano, reliever Aaron Laffey, and reliever Nick Massett for assignment.

With the roster reductions, the Nats are down to 30 on the roster.  They must reduce the roster to 25 by opening day.  CLICK HERE AND JOIN THE DISCUSSION
