Redskins sign Josh Evans

A day of frenzied roster activity in Ashburn, Virginia continued today as the Washington Redskins signed free agent safety Josh Evans to a one-year contract.

Evans, a 6th round pick in 2013 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, joins Donte Whitner — another free agent safety signed today — on the active roster.

Safety David Bruton has been sent to injured reserve and DE Kendall Reyes was cut.

Evans spent the last three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting all but 10 games he played in during that time. The 6-foot, 198-pound Evans has 201 career tackles and a forced fumble.

With Bruton and DeAngelo Hall (torn ACL) both put on the injured reserve the last two weeks, the safety position is stretched thin. The starters are now converted CB Will Blackmon and the injury-prone Duke Ihenacho.
