Redskins lost a super fan, Chief Zee dies

The Washington Redskins organization and fan base lost perhaps is best known super fan today, with the death of Chief Zee.  Zema Williams was known for donning the Native American head-dress and representing the Redskins fan base, died in his sleep.

The Redskins organization put out an official statement earlier today.

“The Washington Redskins will always appreciate Zema Williams’ unique passion and dedication to our football team and his fellow Washington Redskins’ fans.”

Williams was well-known among the fan base and appeared at every Redskins home game. He became an unofficial mascot in the 1980s and 1990s.  He’s been attending games since 1978.  The cause of death is unknown at this time.  He was thought to have been in decent health.
