Thompson, 26, took a big jump in 2016 after spending much of his young career on the injured list or the practice squad. He finished the year with 68 carries for 356 yards and three touchdowns along with 49 receptions for 349 yards and two receiving scores — all career highs for him. In a 41-21 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 16, Thompson became the first member of the Redskins to score a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same quarter since Kelvin Bryant in 1988.

Compton, another 2013 acquisition, backed up Keenan Robinson and Perry Riley in earlier seasons before taking over the starting job in 2015. In 2016 he was named captain of the defense and finished with 128 tackles, second on the team.
