Nats reassign prospect Lucas Giolito

The Washington Nationals have reassigned to prospect Lucas Giolito.  Giolito, the Nats first round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, is highly regarded as one of the top prospects in all of baseball, being ranked 5th overall by Baseball America and 3rd overall by Major League Baseball.

The Washington Post reported that Nats’ GM Mike Rizzo stated that Giolito is ‘as close to be ready” as can be.  However, he also indicated he needed a bit more time to work on different nuances.  We will likely see Giolito sometime this season.  The 21 year-old prospect has not pitched above AA yet.  No word yet on his direct assignment, but we guess that it will likely be at AA Harrisburg.
