The Washington Nationals are putting it all together so far this spring, posting an 8-3 record that I proved today after an 11-1 crushing of division rival Atlanta Braves. Tanner Roark, battling for a starting rotation slot, helped his cause, throwing 4 innings and allowing 3 hits and 1 run to earn the win. Roark was the first Nats pitcher to toss four innings this Spring.
OF Michael Taylor went 3 for 3 and IF Stephen Drew drove in 3 runs to lead the Nationals offensively. Clint Robinson added a two run homer. Taylor is now hitting .444 on the spring. Nats super prospect Trea Turner was 2-3 with two runs scored.
Washington was a recipient of five scoreless relief innings from their bullpen from Shawn Kelly, Aaron Laffey, Sean Burnett, Sammy Solis, and Trevor Gott.
