Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson injured his LCL last Sunday against the Eagles and the injury will require surgery. The surgery ends Hankerson’s season and he will be placed on injured reserve. That opens a roster spot and it also opens a starting spot, which will be filled by Joshua Morgan, according to Head Coach Mike Shanahan who made the announcement during his Wednesday press conference.
Hankerson [30 rec., 370 yards, 3 TD] was third on the team in catches and receiving yards and tied for first in TD receptions. This is the second time in  his three NFL campaigns that Hankerson’s season has ended prematurely due to a knee injury.
Morgan, who as deactivated for the Philadelphia game after losing his kick and punt returning gig, will be the new starter. Morgan has only 11 receptions for 124 Â yards and zero touchdowns despite beginning the season as a starter. Morgan has not been a real part of the team’s offensive game plan for at least two months, but that will now have to change.
