Caps face the Flyers in Round One

The playoffs are set.  The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, while the Boston Bruins were blown out by the Ottawa Senators, catapulting the Flyers to the playoffs and booting the Bruins to an early season end.  With the Eastern Conference set, the Capitals will face the hated Flyers in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Caps have to faced the Flyers in the playoffs since 2008.  In that series, the Flyers defeated the Caps in seven games.  This year, since the Caps won the Eastern Conference, they will have home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.

Since the Caps are at home and the Washington Wizards play Wednesday night the earliest start of the series will be Thursday.  The Capitals still have two regular season games left, playing tonight against the St. Louis Blues and wrapping put their regular season tomorrow night against Anaheim.

The Caps and Flyers payed four times this season, splitting the series.  Washington’s two losses to Philadelphia this year were overtime losses.
